Julie Melone, Master Level Clinical Intern

Julie is a Clinical Intern completing her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Judson University.

She is interested in existential psychology and spiritual issues because she believes in the importance of finding and creating meaning and resiliency in life. Julie employs a person-centered and strengths-based approach. She also incorporates elements of cognitive behavior therapy and family systems theory. She strives to be a steady and supportive resource to clients with substance use and codependency issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief issues.

Julie is eager to help adults and adolescents navigate life transitions in areas such as education, career, and relationships. She has over 15 years of experience in the administrative end of the construction industry, which gives her a unique perspective into both the trades and the corporate world. Also, as part of her customer service duties, Julie became comfortable working with individuals in the 55+ retirement communities and working with couples to coordinate services.

In her free time, Julie loves watching standup comedy. She serves weekly in the junior high school ministry at her church. Fun fact: She enjoys a lot of ice in her beverages.

Julie is currently accepting new clients at the Lake in the Hills and Schaumburg offices. Julie can be reached at jmelone@owenscounseling.com.
