Internships
Owens & Associates offers clinically supervised internship/practicum opportunities to high school and collegiate (Bachelor’s and Master’s) level students:
High school students interested in Psychology and curious about exploring outpatient counseling in a private practice setting have the opportunity for weekly supervision with a licensed practitioner and discuss treatment modalities for various mental illnesses, ways to address peer conflict and relationship violence. Interns are responsible for payment information and client reminder calls, and are encouraged to speak with any counselor on staff in order to explore the counseling profession from the perspective or specialty.
College-level students completing their Bachelor’s degree and majoring in Psychology or Social Work are offered an opportunity for weekly supervision with a licensed practitioner and discuss treatment modalities for various mental illnesses, ways to address peer conflict and relationship violence. Interns are responsible for payment information and client reminder calls, and are encouraged to speak with any counselor on staff in order to explore the counseling profession from the perspective or specialty. At the Bachelor’s level you can also provide mentorship to 12-17-year-old youths as a bridge to our Breakfast Club teen group.
High school students interested in administration, or College-level students completing their Bachelor’s degree in Business or Office Management: if you are curious about office systems, particularly with a small, steadily growing business with multiple sites, you would have the opportunity for a hands-on experience under the direction and supervision of the Office Manager. Interns would be responsible for data entry, client reminder calls, filing, and marketing campaigns, and would provide support to both office staff and clinical staff. Individual or group supervision opportunities are available. Any other curriculum needs are open for discussion.
Graduate students at the Master’s level who are completing programs in Clinical Psychology (Counseling Practice) or M.A. or M.S. in Counseling, have an opportunity to complete their practicum requirements and hours with our site.
At the graduate level, the supervised experience our practice offers includes, but is not limited to:
