Hi everyone! My name is Kevin Lahey, and I’m a new Clinical Intern at Owens & Associates Counseling and Therapy Center! I’m currently working on my MSW through the University of Iowa with the goal of providing therapy to members of a community that I’ve called home for most of my life. I found Owens & Associates Counseling and Therapy Center early on in my search for a practicum placement and upon doing more research, I knew I had to reach out. Being able to find a placement that can provide so many different experiences and learning opportunities is the type of thing that you can’t pass up. To me, Owens & Associates Counseling and Therapy Center is the ideal type of practice to work with. Everything I’ve seen has shown me that they truly care about providing the best treatment they can to as many people as possible, and I’m beyond excited to learn as much as I can.

I’m looking forward to working with anyone and everyone, but I do have a particular interest in working with teens and young adults struggling with issues related to anxiety and depression. Working with these types of problems has been a goal of mine since I was in high school and finally having that opportunity is super exciting. Anxiety and depression have consistently impacted people in my life, so when I knew I could work towards becoming someone capable of helping those in the same position as those close to me, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. As I mentioned before, those are just two key areas of interest to me, and I’d love to meet and work with anyone experiencing any difficulties in life. While those difficulties may not necessarily be related to anxiety and depression, they’re still very much real, impactful, and worth talking about and addressing. In short, if it matters to you, it will matter to me.

Going forward, I’ll be able to see a limited number of clients on Wednesdays at Owens & Associates Counseling and Therapy Center Lake in the Hills location. I’ll be co-facilitating some of the weekend groups that Owens & Associates Counseling and Therapy Center hosts on Saturday mornings. Aside from that, I’ll be doing what I can to help the practice run smoothly at both the Lake in the Hills and Schaumburg locations. With all of that in mind, I’ll be doing my best to help in any way I can. If you have any questions, you can reach me at the email address provided below and I’ll do my best to get you the information you need. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone, so until then, stay well!
