Alexa received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University. She is both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor (pending).
Alexa believes that building a strong relationship with clients is essential to growth and healing. She brings energy and humor to her sessions and creates a safe, collaborative space where clients feel they have a partner with them on their journey. Alexa focuses on helping clients find hope and meaning in their lives by using existential, strengths-based, and humanistic approaches. She also uses mindfulness to bring patients to the present moment and experience it more fully. Alexa’s goal for all clients is to see them develop a more meaningful relationship with themselves, the world, and others; to thrive with a sense of connectedness and purpose. Alexa walks alongside clients as they discover more about who they are and what they want.
Alexa also works with clients to explore the thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes that are keeping them stuck. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients move forward by forming new ways of thinking and looking at the world. Alexa is a strong believer in the use of insight as a tool for clients to better understand themselves and their way of thinking. Alexa ultimately wants to see her clients learn to love and have compassion for all parts of themselves.
Alexa currently works with teens and adults. Her areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, life transitions/major life changes, stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, identity/purpose challenges, and trauma.
Alexa enjoys lots of laughter and good food. She loves to spend time with family, friends, and her dog.
